The county seat can be found on the two banks of the river Zala, nearly at an equal distance from the Austrian, Slovenian and Croatian border. Zalaegerszeg has a population of about 60 thousand. How to get there?
Zalaegerszeg can be found in the direct vicinity of the main roads 76, 74 and 75. Lake Balaton is situated east from the town, at a distance of 45 kilometers. The town is lying at a distance of 213 kilometers from Budapest if reached by car and of 239 kilometers if accessed by train. The nearest motorway junction can be found 50 kilometers far from the town, at Nagykanizsa beside the M7 motorway.
