How to get there?

The town can be reached from Budapest on the M7 motorway and the road 67. As to railway, it can be accessed through the Budapest-Pécs line as far as Dombóvár from where the Dombóvár–Gyékényes line runs to Kaposvár.

Kaposvár and Somogy county is attractive to tourists because of the settlements of the southern shore of Lake Balaton and the Somogy-hills. Nature lovers do visit the wine district on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. The town’s marked success is the establishment of the Pannon Horse Riding Academy. The building of “Csiky Gergely” Theater is an outstanding work of the secessionist architecture in Trans-Danubia. The downtown area of the county seat is unique in Europe in terms of architecture as there are more than 220 eclectic and secessionist buildings on its territory. The ruins of the abbey founded in 1061 can be found in the Kaposszentjakab district of the town.
